Amazon & Marketplace Strategy

Build Amazon Into a Growth Channel. Not a Silo.

Jon Bullinger provides hands-on Amazon and marketplace leadership for consumer brands that need senior strategy and hands-on ownership — without another full-time hire, and without the channel being managed in isolation.

Seller Central and Vendor Central experience, connected to DTC, pricing, inventory and the rest of the business.

Scope

What does Amazon marketplace strategy include?

Amazon marketplace strategy is the plan for how a brand grows profitably on Amazon across assortment, pricing, inventory, advertising, content, operations and measurement — while coordinating the channel with the rest of the business.

Depending on the business, the work can include:

  • Marketplace strategy
  • Seller Central
  • Vendor Central
  • Catalog and product launches
  • Pricing and profitability
  • Advertising strategy and measurement
  • Inventory and demand planning
  • Content and merchandising
  • Conversion
  • Reporting and analytics
  • Marketplace expansion
  • Amazon and DTC coordination
Timing

When does a brand need Amazon leadership?

  • Amazon revenue has stalled.
  • Advertising spend keeps rising without enough profitable growth.
  • The channel has no clear owner.
  • Seller Central has catalog or operational issues.
  • Amazon and DTC strategies are working against each other.
  • You're preparing to launch or expand on Amazon.
  • Your team or agencies need experienced leadership.
The Difference

How is this different from hiring an Amazon agency?

Agencies can be valuable specialists. Jon works from inside the broader business — connecting Amazon decisions to DTC, inventory, finance, pricing, operations and brand.

He can also work alongside your existing agencies and internal team, setting priorities and making sure the work adds up.

The Work

What does Jon actually work on?

Jon sets marketplace strategy and leads the channel: Seller Central, Vendor Central, product launches, catalog and listings, advertising strategy, inventory planning, profitability and performance reporting.

He has brought Amazon in-house from an agency, moved a brand from a reseller model to Seller Central, and led Amazon across six European marketplaces.

Amazon advertising leadership

Jon sets and leads advertising strategy, budgets, priorities, measurement and profitability — rather than managing day-to-day PPC campaigns. He oversees performance, identifies opportunities and evaluates ROAS, ACOS and TACOS, working with internal teams or outside partners executing campaigns.

Advertising decisions connect to the entire Amazon business: revenue, margin, inventory, pricing, conversion and overall profitability — not advertising in isolation.

Inventory and demand planning

Jon leads inventory and demand planning so inventory supports marketplace growth, promotions, product launches and advertising. The focus is balancing availability and capital — avoiding unnecessary inventory commitments and stockouts — not acting as a dedicated supply-chain specialist.

Beyond Amazon

Does Jon only work with Amazon?

No. Amazon is usually one part of a larger e-commerce business. Jon's experience also covers Shopify and DTC, other marketplaces, retail and B2B.

Many engagements cover the full channel mix as part of fractional e-commerce leadership.

Engagement

How does an Amazon engagement work?

Amazon and marketplace work can stand alone or sit inside a broader fractional engagement. Engagements are typically:

  • Remote
  • About 8–10 hours a week
  • Hands-on
  • Integrated with your existing team and partners
